Apple has introduced a USB-C Apple Pencil compatible with all iPad models, addressing the inconvenience of needing a dongle to connect the first-gen Apple Pencil to the iPad 10, which featured USB-C. Here are the key details about this new accessory.

The new Apple Pencil boasts pixel-perfect accuracy, low latency, and tilt sensitivity, catering to various tasks such as note-taking, sketching, annotating, journaling, and more. It features a matte finish and a flat side for magnetic attachment to the iPad for storage, and it pairs and charges with a USB-C cable.

Bob Borchers, Apple’s vice president of Worldwide Product Marketing, highlighted the transformative impact of Apple Pencil on productivity and creativity, emphasizing its compatibility with the versatility of the iPad.

One notable feature of this version is the inclusion of a sliding cap with a USB-C port, enabling users to connect a USB-C cable for pairing and charging. When magnetically attached to the iPad, the new Apple Pencil enters a sleep state to conserve battery life.

Apple positions this version as its most affordable Apple Pencil model, suitable for everyday use. It supports USB-C charging and pairing, making it suitable for users of the iPad (10th generation) and all other iPad models with a USB-C port, including the iPad Pro, iPad Air, and iPad mini.

While it offers hover support for the M2 iPad Pro, it lacks certain features like pressure sensitivity, wireless pairing and charging, and double-tap to change tools. Additionally, Apple does not offer engraving for this model.

The price of this accessory is $79, or $69 with an educational discount, and it will be available in early November.
