Nicolas Cage, known for his unique style in the entertainment world, surprised fans by embodying one of the most iconic figures in the DC Universe. Making a brief appearance as Superman in last year’s The Flash, rumors circulated about Cage taking on a more significant role in the DC Universe.
Despite his cameo sparking excitement among fans, rumors suggested he might replace Henry Cavill as Superman. However, in a recent interview, Cage clarified that he is not entering the DC Universe and expressed no anger when Warner Bros. canceled his Superman movie.
Last year’s The Flash featured Cage’s memorable cameo as the ’90s version of Superman. Before this, in 1998, it was announced that Cage would play Superman in the movie titled Superman Lives. The project faced financial difficulties and script quality issues, leading Warner Bros. to put it on hold, ultimately leading to its cancellation.
In the interview with Deadline, Cage discussed his feelings about The Flash’s cameo and the canceled Superman Lives project. He expressed confusion rather than anger about the termination of the film, considering Tim Burton’s involvement and success with the Batman franchise. Cage could have portrayed an engaging Man of Steel, given Burton’s expertise in crafting superhero movies.
Reflecting on The Flash, Cage mentioned feeling perplexed about the CGI used in his portrayal of Superman. Despite the brief and memorable appearance, he expressed confusion about the deviation from the original conversation regarding the character’s depiction.
In the interview, Cage also shared his thoughts on the evolution of Superman and his experience playing the character in The Flash compared to the one he was supposed to portray. Despite the confusion and changes, seeing himself as Superman remained intriguing for the actor.
