Taylor Swift had a plan in place for revealing her new album if she didn’t win a Grammy. She used one of her acceptance speeches at the Grammy Awards to announce her upcoming album. However, she had a backup plan in case she didn’t win any awards.
During her Eras Tour in Tokyo, Swift told the audience that they would have been the first to hear about her album “The Tortured Poets Department” if she hadn’t won a Grammy. She had intended to make the announcement during her Tokyo concert but was grateful for the Grammy win that allowed her to share the news on stage.
Swift mentioned that she started working on “The Tortured Poets Department” right after releasing her 2022 album, “Midnights.” Despite criticism about her frequent album releases, Swift defended her approach, stating that she loves making music and is simply having fun.
“The Tortured Poets Department” will be Swift’s fourth studio album since 2020, along with four re-recorded versions of her earlier albums. In comparison, Beyoncé, often compared to Swift in terms of record sales and cultural impact, has released only one album, “Renaissance,” in the same period.
Scheduled for release on April 19, “The Tortured Poets Department” will include 16 new tracks, featuring collaborations with artists such as Post Malone and Florence and the Machine.
