The ChatGPT-like app, Microsoft Copilot is now accessible on Android.

Microsoft has discreetly introduced a dedicated Copilot application for Android, now accessible on the Google Play Store. This app provides access to Microsoft’s AI-driven Copilot without requiring the Bing mobile app. Neowin recently observed the availability of Copilot on Android for almost a week, although an iOS version is not yet released.

The Copilot app on Android closely resembles ChatGPT, offering chatbot functionalities, image generation through DALL-E 3, and the capability to compose text for emails and documents. Additionally, it includes complimentary access to OpenAI’s latest GPT-4 model, a feature for which users of ChatGPT typically have to pay.

This Android launch follows Microsoft’s rebranding of Bing Chat to Copilot a little over a month ago. Initially introduced within the Bing search engine earlier in the year, Microsoft integrated a ChatGPT-like interface into search results. Although this integration still exists, Microsoft has abandoned the Bing Chat branding, allowing Copilot to stand alone, with its dedicated domain at copilot.microsoft.com, similar to ChatGPT.

The release of mobile apps for Copilot appears to be a natural progression in expanding the standalone Copilot experience, especially considering the rebranding of Bing Chat Enterprise to simply Copilot. While there is currently no indication of an iOS version of Copilot, its imminent release is anticipated. In the meantime, users can utilize the Bing app on iPhone or iPad to access existing Copilot features.
