Legal tensions are escalating between Yellowstone creator Taylor Sheridan and the show’s star Cole Hauser. Documents obtained by People reveal that Bosque Ranch, Sheridan’s facility used for filming, has filed a lawsuit against Hauser’s coffee company, Free Rein. The legal action alleges “trademark infringement, unfair competition, and false advertising,” citing similar branding marks with intersecting letters used by both companies. The suit claims that neither Hauser nor his company sought permission from Sheridan or Bosque Ranch to use a mark closely resembling the BR Brand for similar goods.
E! News has reached out to representatives for both Sheridan and Hauser, but no responses have been received as of now.
In October, Hauser introduced his coffee brand, emphasizing its connection to the American Dream. The lawsuit follows the announcement, pointing out the alleged unauthorized use of similar branding.
The legal dispute emerges seven months after Paramount declared that the fifth season of Yellowstone would be its last. However, the network revealed Sheridan’s plans for a new story picking up where Yellowstone concludes, assuring fans that the Dutton ranch saga will continue in another epic tale.
