In the midst of a referendum concerning Venezuela’s territorial claim on a part of neighboring Guyana, Canada has adjusted its travel advisory, specifically cautioning Canadian travelers near the Guyana-Venezuela border.
The updated advisory, issued by the federal government on Friday, emphasizes potential security deterioration in the border region due to the ongoing discord over the Guyana Essequibo region and the impending referendum in Venezuela scheduled for December 3, 2023.
